GeSoVIT: INNOVATIONS FOR VINEYARD SUSTAINABLE AGRONOMIC MANAGEMENT AND FOR THE DEFINITION OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY CERTIFICATION CRITERIA FOR THE WINERY

Read time: 3 min.

The project aims at developing and transferring to the vineyard innovations in sustainable agronomic management, including plant protection, plant nutrition, irrigation, canopy management and soil management. Innovations are oriented towards new models that, thanks to a more efficient use of inputs (pesticides, fertilizers, water, etc) will allow an effective environmental protection. The project activities will be focused on two productive compartments, Glera and Pinot grigio, because of the increasing diffusion of these two varieties that together represent over 40% of the total vineyard surface in Friuli, and the consequent impact they have on the environment at Regional scale. During the project, pilot actions will be carried out at the partner’s farms, in order to test the agronomic strategies in the specific context of Friuli Region and assess their environmental impact. Results obtained from this research will help developing a protocol of “virtuous actions” that will be preparatory to the environmental sustainability certification of the wine farms.
